Trump said he was already considering several candidates to replace Powell. Although the US president often hints at Powell's possible dismissal, he sometimes contradicts himself: for example, in June, Trump announced that he did not intend to remove him from office. Kevin Hassett, one of the potential candidates, declined to comment on the situation, stressing that the decision rests with the president. Experts believe that Trump's statements may be an attempt to influence monetary policy before Powell's term expires in 2026.
