According to the operators of gas transmission systems (GTS), the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine remains at the maximum level, and through Belarus and Poland, via the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline, is carried out at night. Applications for pumping gas from Russia on March 3 amount to 109.5 million cubic meters.

At the same time, the volume of gas supplies through Ukrainian territory has increased sharply since February 24 and is now at its maximum level. According to Gazprom's contractual obligations, transit through Ukraine in 2022 is 40 billion cubic meters, or about 109.6 million cubic meters per day.

Experts attribute the growth in demand for Russian gas to heightened geopolitical risks, as well as the weather forecast in Europe predicting some cooling in the near future. According to media reports, Europe at the end of winter took away all the gas pumped in the summer season, its total balance in underground storage today is 29%.

Analysts continue to closely monitor developments and believe that disruption of gas supplies is most likely to occur due to damage to infrastructure. Moreover, the risk of disruptions due to sanctions against energy is very high.

Already in recent days, many large companies have been leaving the Russian market. Experts fear that if the gas flows from Sakhalin 2 to Japan and South Korea are disrupted, then alternative volumes of fuel will have to be found.
