The President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, during a press conference following today's meeting of the regulator, outlined the main factors that will limit economic activity in the eurozone in the near future.

Among them are high energy prices, deteriorating global trade conditions, increased geopolitical uncertainty, and the negative impact of high inflation on household incomes.

The head of the central bank also noted that the conflict in Ukraine and new quarantine restrictions in China have exacerbated the problem of supply chains. As a result, more and more companies are facing rising costs and worsening their forecasts for the future.

Lagarde also noted that the factors supporting economic activity in the region also remain. Here we can highlight the opening of sectors most seriously affected by the pandemic, the strengthening of the labor market, as well as rising wages and consumer spending.
