China has announced large-scale mitigation measures to support an economy weakened by trade disputes. The Central Bank, together with financial regulators, announced a reduction in the seven-day reverse repo rate by 10 bps to 1.4%, as well as a reduction in the mandatory reserves ratio by 50 bps.

These steps will free up about 1,000 billion yuan ($138.6 billion) to boost liquidity. The new rates will take effect on May 8, and the reduction in reserves will begin on May 15.

The government also announced the launch of a 500 billion yuan re-lending program to develop the consumer sector and care for the elderly. In the real estate sector, mortgage rates under the national fund will decrease by 25 bps, which will reduce the rate on five-year loans for the purchase of first homes from 2.85% to 2.6%. For companies engaged in car loans, mandatory reserves will be completely eliminated.

China has also announced plans to implement new initiatives aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the private sector. These measures will be announced in the near future, underscoring Beijing's desire to boost economic growth by creating favorable conditions for all market participants.
