China has expressed its determination to respond to the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions adopted by the European Union. The Ministry of Commerce stressed that Beijing will persistently protect the rights and interests of its companies. China also reiterated its categorical disagreement with unilateral measures that circumvent the decisions of the UN Security Council.

The new EU sanctions affected 14 individuals and 41 legal entities, including companies from China, India, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Singapore and Mauritius. This has increased tensions in international trade relations.

At the same time, China confirmed the holding of an important summit with the EU in Beijing this week. The main topic of the meeting will be the discussion of ways to resolve trade disputes against the background of global economic instability. The participation was confirmed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa, who will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting will also be attended by Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang.
