In February of this year, inflation in the eurozone slowed down, reaching 2.6% in annual terms, according to the statistical office of the European Union. In January, the figure was 2.8%.

Such inflation figures have become the lowest in the last three months, while a year ago inflation was 8.5%.

The decrease in energy prices in February amounted to 3.7%, continuing the trend in January (-6.1%). The increase in prices for food, alcohol and tobacco products slowed to 3.9% from January's 5.6%. Industrial goods rose in price by 1.6%, which is less than the January growth of 2%, and services increased in price by 4%, unchanged from January.

There is also a noticeable slowdown in consumer price growth excluding food and energy (core inflation, CPI Core index), which in February amounted to 3.1% – this is the lowest figure since March 2022 and in line with preliminary data and analyst expectations.

Monthly consumer price growth in the eurozone in February was 0.6%, also in line with forecasts.
