The United States imposes record duties of up to 3,521% on solar panels from Southeast Asia

The American authorities have decided to impose record high duties on imports of solar panels from Southeast Asian countries, which reach 35.21%. This move, directed against products from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, effectively deprives these products of competitiveness in the American market.

This decision was made by the US authorities after the country's Ministry of Commerce found that China was allegedly sending solar panels through Southeast Asian countries for sale in the United States in order to avoid paying duties. In particular, a significant part of the products, according to the American authorities, were sent through Cambodia, which led to the imposition of duties in excess of 3,500% for some manufacturers in that country.

In addition, supplies from Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia are subject to the new tariffs. The introduction of such large-scale restrictions will significantly complicate the access of these products to the US market, which is likely to affect their cost to end consumers.
